And now it’s ON baby! WOO! Dynagirl reacts in full after seeing her man get the shank! If I had to break it all down, I’d say this is probably my second favorite scene in the entire series, after the epilogue. Finally getting to cut our girl loose and really get her hands dirty was a blast here and way overdue in the opinions of many!

Oh, and just to let you know, she really hates being called a “bitch”. :) Notice how none of the rest of the heroes or villains in the background are jumping in to break this up? Someone’s about to get his BIG time.

I’m with Iron Will on this one. The remorseless sociopath did the right thing. HOW many people did we just watch Superman there rip in two? Heroes, supposedly. Not even the standard silly tights wearing superbads he was slaughtering earlier.

And totally related is the fact that he was ALREADY dying. In his short time left he went on a killing spree because he’s got a brain tumor the size of his own impressive fist.

Despite what humanity wants to believe, we’re not yet civilized enough to completely write of “face punching” as a solution to problems. Some people do need to die.

The Joker doesn’t kill people anymore. Batman does. Every time he refuses to put him down for good, Bruce Wayne is directly responsible for everyone the Joker murders.

On the flipside, Willy there could probably do with a good stabbing himself.

I think you make some excellent points no doubt about it. The very nature of heroes has come into question in the last several decades as the world we live in has become increasingly reflected in the comics we read. I can’t count how many times I screamed at a Spider-man comic as a kid to “just let the Punisher kill the bad guy!” But those were different times, and largely different heroes, than we see today, and I think that’s why a number of those old guard heroes have trouble being relatable to kids these days.

Iron Will was always supposed to be a more thinking villain, at least on the surface. He’s the guy that has some great philosophical ideas, but in the end he really can’t get over his own petty desires and hangups, which I think makes him an even more dangerous villain than someone like say…Dr. Doom. At least that guy has a more or less unwavering belief system, you know? He’s got goals and objectives, and he justifies those things pretty well via his actions. Iron Will on the other hand is more the overly intelligent mercenary who read more than most of his peers when they were in grade school.

heh. But yeah, he does need a stabbing.

The only real difficult concept with my “kill them badguys” motto, and this is a pretty huge hangup, is deciding when it’s acceptable to just shoot the punk. Obviously, we don’t want our heroes, pillars of love and justice and the name of the moon and all that jazz, to devolve into deranged serial killers themselves. Theta’s spent the past few issues specifically NOT washing his hands. Hygiene issues aside, that’s just straight up horrifying.

Who gets to decide when a villain has gone too far? Taken too many lives? The Joker is an obvious example only because he’s been around so long. He’s gone to jail. All the jails. It hasn’t seemed to stop him from kidnapping the city and murdering a ludicrous number of people. Arresting him is obviously no longer a solution.

But it’s not that obvious for every villain, and I personally don’t want to see Nineties Anti-Heroes come back. Majority of them were all kinds of lame. Bloodshadow the Revengeancer can stay under his badly written rock.

As much sense as my “Kill’em All” stance may seem, there are plenty of problems with it from a moral standpoint that dirties the idea most people have of “heroes”.

Oddly the proper solution probably isn’t too far from our current system of justice and punishment. Slap one of those power sappers on your supervillain, and give him a trial by jury. Upon reaching the guilty verdict: execute them. It takes the murderous vigilantism out of the hands of the heroes and places responsibility for killing these individuals in the hands of society.

Granted our current process takes way too long and could be abused badly. Don’t forget that provisions for self defense would be included – if a criminal opens fire on a cop and gets shot in the head as a result that’s just what happens. The same would have to apply to our super heroes.

Then again since these things always devolve into a firefight, we come full circle to “why doesn’t the punisher just kill him?” This is actually a pretty interesting topic.

These are all great points. I have to deal with the issues of what is right and wrong and “how far is too far” just about every day. It takes a lot out of you. I can understand justice’s idea of killing them all. But what I was told as a rookie is what separates the German shepherds (us good guys) from the wolves (them bad guys) is #1 German Shepherds care about the sheep & wolves don’t #2 German Shepherds have to operate within bounds & wolves don’t #3 German Shepherds are normally loved and respected by the sheep & wolves are not. When any part of these rules start to fall apart we will see the imminent decay of our society. The bad part is that in today’s society #3 is not upheld by the sheep. So we have more German Shepherds becoming Wolves. Think about it…
