June 13th, 2008 UPDATE FROM THE COORDINATORS OF HEROES CONVENTION
JUST ONE WEEK LEFT UNTIL HEROESCON 2008!
Holy cow! Where does the time go? Every year we plan harder and farther in advance, and here at the end there's always a TON of stuff we have to do at the last minute! Well, believe it when I say our nose is to the grindstone--this is definitely going to be a HeroesCon par excellence, make no mistake! We've got some important news for both Exhibitors and anyone who purchased space in Artists Alley, but first let me get announce something for everybody--
That's right! Feast your eyes on what will next week be this year's incentive print for advance ticket holders! The design will change a little bit between now and then, most likely, but Darwyn Cooke's incredible art will STILL be that incredible! As in the past, this signed & numbered print will be FREE to all those who have advance 3-day passes--the print will be there at registration for you to pick up when you get your badges and other swag! This is sure to be one of our most popular prints ever, and that's saying something for sure!
Oh, and speaking of which: THE DEADLINE FOR ADVANCE TICKET ORDERS IS TUESDAY, JUNE 17, AT 9PM. We will not accept ticket orders past this point, so call us at 704.375.7462 to get your ticket now, or you can go to our Tickets page and download the form and fax us your order

ATTENTION: All those who have purchased booth space at HeroesCon 08, your locations are now posted on the Exhibitor page! And if you purchased space in Artists Alley, your locations are up on both the relevant portion of the Guest List and Indie Island pages! These locations are pretty firm, so feel free to advertise to all your fans and customers that you'll be set up at HeroesCon at your particular location!
We'll send out an e-mail early next week with other info you'll need (dock pass, etc.). If you have any questions or problems, or don't see your name on the list, then contact Shelton directly to get everything square!
Let's see, what else? Also this week we welcome even more last-minute additions to the HeroesCon 08 Guest List, including Rick Remender, Ivan Brandon, and Tommy Castillo! We had a heck of a time figuring out where the heck to put them, as there's not a square inch of table space in the room! But we did it! If I wasn't so crammed for time, I'd sound more excited about it, but you can read the posts on our blog, both announcing Ivan and one announcing Rick and Tommy. Now you get excited!
Which reminds me of some not exciting news--simultaneous with the joyous news of Ivan Brandon's addition, we were forced to announce the cancellations of Ed Brubaker and Michael Lark. I gotta be honest with you--ouch! But both of them had unavoidable circumstances that prevented them from coming, and send along their abject apologies.
In fact, I just got off the e-mail with Matt Fraction, and he informs me that Ed feels so bad he's sending along some "Ed Apology Giveaways" (his phrase), which will hopefully alleviate your disappointment. And remember the panel that Matt and Ed were going to do on their upcoming collaboration on Uncanny X-Men? Well, it looks like Ed will still be making some sort of quasi-appearance there as well, using some sort of "technology" involved with "video-conferencing" that Matt was telling me about. We're hammering the details out, but I thought that would ease the blow for you a little!
Still more news: Also last week we added a ton--a ton of panels to our Event Schedule, which is up in its near-final form now. There will definitely be changes, though--there always are! One that I haven't made, but will make soon, is that the AVENGERS ASSEMBLED! panel scheduled for 3pm on Sunday will now move to 3pm on SATURDAY! But I'll be making blog posts to that effect throughout the week, so just keep your eyes peeled!
Okay, there's tons more, but we'll be doing blog updates all weekend, and throughout next week, and will most likely send out next week's Heroes Hotline on Thursday, just to give you a leg up.

We announced the late-breaking addition of Dave Dorman, Scott Hampton, and Budd Root to the HeroesCon 08 Guest List!
We added a bunch more panels to our HeroesCon Event Schedule!
We announced the incredibly sweet official Indie Island con shirt, by Evan Dorkin and Sarah Dyer!
We also announced (re-announced, anyway--the Hero Initiative announced it first) that the special issue of WHAT IF? that Marvel is releasing as a tribute book to the late Mike Wieringo, will debut at HeroesCon, and be available at the Hero Initiative booth (Booth #100).
We asked you (we'll probably ask again this week, too) to please do your best to help us spread the word about HeroesCon, which is just one week away!
