CCI: Notes from Friday' Archie Panel


Archie Comics has provided Comic Related with notes and images from their panel Friday at Comic-Con. Here's the blurb for the panel, which took place Friday at 12-1PM PST:

Archie Comics: Cooler Than Ever!-- It's been an exciting year for Archie Comics, but that's just the start, with plenty of surprise announcements about the future of Archie Comics, including the latest news about Archie on television and in feature films! Panelists include executive producer of The Dark Knight and Archie writer Michael Uslan, Archie Comics co-CEO Jon Goldwater, iVerse CEO Michael Murphy, IDW Publishing COO Greg Goldstein, Dark Horse Comics VP of business development Michael Martens, Archie Comics president/editor-in-chief Victor Gorelick, and Archie Comics VP/managing editor Mike Pellerito. The panel will feature a Q&A session.

    Here are the Highlights from the panel.

    New Kids Off the Wall 3-Part Story Crossover.

    Life With Archie #1 features Norm Breyfogle Art. It contains two storie, Archie married to Betty, and Archie married to Veronica. It will hit retailers on August 10, 2010, and will also be on sale at all Toys R Us and Walmart stores!

    Kevin Keller, the first gay Archie Comics character, comes to Riverdale courtesy of Dan Parent on September 1, 2010 in Veronica #202. He will also appear in issues #204 and #205 of the same series.

    The latest Archie postage stamp is available now.

    DC Comics will be producing the Little Archie/Tiny Titans crossover. The two groups use the same dry cleaners only to have their laundry switched.

    Three single Digests have been upgraded to Double Digests:

    Betty & Veronica Digest will now be Betty & Veronica Friends Double Digest.

    Archie Digest will now be World of Archie Double Digest.

    And Pals 'n' Gals will now be Archie & Friends Double Digest.

    Three popular series will be getting re-launches. New series are in the works for Sabrina, Little Jinx and Katy Keene. In Little Jinx's case, she will be called simply Jinx and will be aged to 13 instead of remaining at age 7.

    President Obama and Sarah Palin are making a trip to Riverdale to support candidates for President of Riverdale High. This will mark the first Palin visit to the fair city.

    Sam Hill, Private Eye returns in a reprinted graphic novel, then in a new series by Tom DeFalco and Greg Scott.

    Dark Horse, IDW and Abrams will continue producing high end Archie reprints creating a massive library of Archie books.

    2011 will see the ushering in of Archie Babies, an all new monthly series.

    Michael Uslan will soon be reintroducing Pureheart and the Super Teens.

    The iVerse app for Archie's Digital comics will be getting an updated look. They will also be adding a Sabrina app and a Sonic app.

    A new Archie clothing line will be hitting Urban Outfitters and Target stores this month. Also, Archie Halloween costumes are coming.

    Archie is expanding its global efforts even farther, first with Spacetoons, licensing for India for merchandise, and translating Archie into Hindi.

    There will be more film and television announcements coming soon.

    Archie Comics supports the Ronald McDonald House.

    October 7, 2010 ushers in part of the 70th Anniversary of Archie.
