A Word From One of the Creators
From the desk of Eric Ratcliffe
So, to my knowledge the warnings on the box are 50/50 made up by me and Chad. Chad got some really funny ones that I dig on there. But this was certainly a fun one to write and adds to the mystery of just where the hell comic Eric gets this stuff.
If it wasn't obvious by this strip, I love monster movies almost as much as Star Wars and horror flicks. Going farther in that regard, I absolutely loved Godzilla as a kid (so much so that I am one of a small number of people that has seen the infamous movie with Godzilla's son.) I call every big moth that chills out on a window I can see Mothra and crack the badly dubbed Japanese dialogue jokes all the time.
I think Cloverfield was an American monster movie done right and to a certain extent something we hadn't viewed since the days of Aliens and Predator where the creature was actually intimidating and suspense was built upon properly. Clovey actually shares a lot in common with the Aliens creatures if you think about it. Though the face huggers aren't little versions of Clovey but parasites looking to feed on what they can get and unlike the queen, Clovey was just a baby waking up from a million year nap.
Next week Bill talks to Eric about something that's been driving him crazy for a long time and it involves Galactus and the Surfer! See you in 7, folks!
