
The Works Museum Features The Art and History of the Cartoon
The Works Museum recently announced that one of their new exhibits for 2010 would The Art and History of the Cartoon, an overview of Comics evolution as seen by artists past and present, including nationally published artists David Mack. Mack is the Artist and Author of Kabuki and has been a cover artist on books such as Daredevil and Wolverine.
Others included in the show will be Andy Bennett, Scott D.M. Simmons, Michael Neno, Max Ink and Russell Merritt. Russell, working with the Works' Lyn Logan-Grimes has been coordinating this exhibition. Other art will be displayed by artists from the Columbus Comic Writers and Artists Group, Sunday Comix.
The Exhibition is scheduled for March 26 - May 10, 2010, with the opening reception on Friday March 26 from 5 to 8 pm. Announcements of artist appearances to come soon. For comic fans, this exhibit is offering an opportunity to see Comics as art and art inspired by comics.
Historical pieces and information on Ohio's part in the history of Comics and Cartoons will also be on display in the exhibit. For example: Ohio was the birthplace of the comic strip, the Superhero, the first woman cartoonist and many other firsts as well as significant contributions to the medium throughout its history.
