Chris Noeth's Maya

Chris Noeth's Maya

In December 2009, comic creator Chris Noeth debuts his first creator owned comic series, Maya, in the form of a webcomic.

MayaNoeth is no stranger to creating comics, however, as he is the artist on Tales From The Crypt (Papercutz), and It Came From Beneath The Sea... Again (Bluewater Productions). He is also the art director for Rough Sea Games.

Maya is a science-fiction action drama with some horror elements, but is not a horror story. Taking a page from director James Cameron's book, Maya has strong storytelling and characterization, lots of action and drama, and the characters feel real.

The story begins in the past, but largely takes place in the not so distant future in which Maya is a 22 year old girl with special powers. She must cope with this fact in a world she doesn't really know. Her best friend is a talking toy teddy bear she got when she was a kid. Other important characters include Maya's father, Dr. Thomas Krueger, a bio-tech scientist; Nathan, an old man living alone in the Rocky Mountains with his dog Dandy; and Jack, an albino assassin sent after Maya to retrieve something her father stole from a huge organization.

The concept for Maya is based on a project Noeth developed over ten years ago called The End. The idea came from a dream he had as he saw vivid images in his sleep and felt compelled to write a story to make sense of these images. Over time, Maya developed into a complex concept with a beginning and an end.

Maya will start as a three-issue story arc.
