Brant Fowler on the issue
Not being a huge Deadpool fan, I didn't have high hopes for this issue. But I figured I owed it to ol' Wade to give him another try, and I'm glad I did!
What many people love about Deadpool came to the forefront in shining glory in this particular issue. Whether you dig the crazy schizophrenia, the murderous tendencies, or the oddball humor, fans of the character get it all wrapped up nicely in one fine package. But what made the issue even cooler is that it tied into current events in the Marvel Universe, but still held up as a stand alone, not needing any prior knowledge to the goings on in the rest of the 616 (main Marvel Universe planet Earth for all you uninitiated).
The premise of this issue is simple: Deadpool wants to be an X-Man! The X-Men have taken over an island governing themselves by their own laws now, and Deadpool, team player that he is (note the much intended sarcasm) figures it's in his best interest to join the team and take exile on the island as well. Of course, this doesn't exactly sit well with the X-Men, who know all too well what Wade is capable of. Upon rejection, Wade begins plotting his way into the X-Men , and his plan is as diabolical and twisted as ever.
If you're not a fan of Deadpool, you might have tuned in for the X-Men part of the story, but you stayed for the quick wit, the pool full of pancakes, and of course, the homemade X-Men uniform, complete with embroidered name on the back!
If you've not tried Deadpool yet, or even in a while, this is an issue you want to pick up. It's fun, it's entertaining, and it's my Hot Shot of the Week!

"Want You to Want Me," Part 2
Deadpool is convinced that, after years of gun-for-hire work, he has found his true calling: He's going to be an X-Man! One problem, though: they don't want him! And can you blame them? Wade's just as likely to fire on his friends as his enemies! But Cyclops is smart enough not to get on Deadpool's bad side. He has a plan to keep Deadpool both close enough to monitor and far enough away so that no one gets hit by the shrapnel. But Deadpool has a plan, too...
