Cla$$war, from Com.X has been optioned for film by Mandeville Films, as announced at the Long Beach Comic-Con. Cla$$war is a respected independent publication that's been around for a few years and was recently released in a deluxe hardcover edition.

Cla$$war is summed up as a political thriller with superheroes by Rob Williamns, Trevor Hairsine and Travel Foreman.

Here's the official word on the option to film:

"CLA$$WAR has recently been tapped for development as a major motion picture by Mandeville Films, the production company behind the recent Touchstone Pictures release of the Jonathan Mostow directed, comic book based action thriller SURROGATES, starring Bruce Willis, and the upcoming Christian Bale, Mark Wahlberg starrer, true life boxing drama THE FIGHTER, from Paramount Pictures. Rick Alexander, currently a Producer on the MGM fantasy adventure comedy, EVP OF FAIRYLAND, brought the critically acclaimed Com.x title to Mandeville's VP of Development, David Manpearl (who will serve as the film's Executive Producer), through his transmedia production outfit, Alexander Content, and will partner with Mandeville principals David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman to produce. Discussions regarding the adaptation of CLA$$WAR to the big screen are underway with a soon to be announced screenwriter."
