The long awaited return of ...FARSCAPE!

Ok, here it is! It's not the TV-series, but better...the new release of FARSCAPE #1 by Boom! Studios is scheduled to hit stores on December 24.

A FARSCAPE fan can't ask for a better Christmas present. It's written by the TV series creator Rockne O'Bannon. The story, The Beginning of the End of the Beginning Part 1: Return of the King, is a natural continuation where things ended with the Peace Keeper Wars. John Crichton, Aeryn, and their son, along with Rygel, Jothee, Chiana, and Noranti are on Moya. It probably goes without saying, Pilot and the DRDs are on Moya too! I've secretly harbored a desire to steal one of the DRDs for my own, so I was delighted to spot one.

I don't want to ruin the story line for anyone, but the title "Return of the King" hints at what's happening in this issue. As fans will remember, Dominar Rygel had been usurped from his throne, and this issue kicks off his return. Problems in the relationship between Chiana and an over-sexed Jothee are hinted at. John is his easy-going, humorous self, who has adapted effortlessly to fatherhood. And Aeryn is her pragmatic, battle ready self who seems a bit at a loss on how to handle her new role as a mother.

This issue is a fan pleasing start that has the look and feel of the TV series. The characters resemble their real life counterparts, and the colors and mood recaptures the FARSCAPE setting. And for those of you who weren't FARSCAPE fans during the TV series run and don't understand what the buzz is about, this is a perfect opportunity to jump in!
