I've been impressed with the early preview art from AdHouse Books Tiger!Tiger!Tiger! [info] since it was first unveiled a few months back. Talking with creator Scott Morse by e-mail, I found him to be as warm and invitingly as the books he creates. Following the October release of Notes Over Yonder [info], Morse returned with a very different and equally interesting story to tell.

Checking the AdHouse site [link], I found a description that sets the stage well providing a foundation for this work. It explains how Tiger!Tiger!Tiger! touches on themes of art... fatherhood... work... play and how we reconcile one to the next. In the book, Morse has decided it's time to try a series of band desinee-style graphic works that combine varied styles of painting and illustration with sequential stories of wonder and the magic of the day-to-day. Morse's popular tiger from the pages of Southpaw [info] is reborn as a paper tiger through which Morse lives out moments of his life, attempting to harness an inner courage while tackling hard thoughts and new experiences, all the while doing his best to appreciate each moment as it comes.

Speaking with the author by e-mail I asked him to share a few thoughts on what it means to him to see Tiger!Tiger!Tiger! released to the public and what served as the inspiration for this particular work? Here's his response in his own words...

"Tiger!Tiger!Tiger! is a new kind of storytelling for me. I'm a relatively new dad and as a scatter-brained artist, I'm finding I need to merge my worlds a bit to tell new kinds of stories. This book is for the dads, and moms, out there, who find themselves needing to remember that everyday life IS the story. Little moments can be exciting. Innocence, and innocent approaches to problems, can be exciting. This book is all about exploring small moments and thoughts, tying them together to present a bigger way of thinking. Artistically, it's about broad colors and shapes, organic atmospheres, off-the-cuff drawing, and being happy with shooting from the hip. I really hope everyone checks it out and enjoys it on some level. There will be more! This is just Volume One..."

I can tell you that I will be there for Volume Two and as our Hot Shot of the Week, I invite you to join me in turning this particular page and exploring the book.
