Halloween Thriller!
Ron Randall's Trekker and Karl Kesel's Johnny Zombie team up for a digital special from Thrillbent
Lock your doors and stay inside this October 31st so you can be one of the first inside the ghoulish "City of the Dead", as two comic veterans take their characters into the world of digital comics in a zombie--infected adventure which will appear on the popular digital comics website www.Thrillbent.com.
Karl Kesel (Spider-Man, Fantastic Four) first had the idea of teaming up his zombie- fighting character Johnny Zombie with Ron Randall's acclaimed sci-fi bounty hunter, Trekker in a digital-format adventure. "When Karl mentioned the idea to me, I immediately thought, "This is a bull's eye", Randall says. Kesel adds with a chuckle "Yeah-- right between the eyes. So to speak."
Both Kesel and Randall are long-time comics pros who embraced the chance to bring their two iconic characters together, and also to work in the new digital comics format.
"Ron and I are both over-the-moon happy with how this has come together," Kesel commented. "It's the most exciting comics project I've worked on-- well, maybe ever. There's just so damn much potential in this new medium!"
The "new medium" is the "click-to-advance" format that digital comics allows, opening up new possibilities for comic creators to control the pace and tone at which their tales unfold. "It is utterly unique to the digital format, and an exhilarating set of new possibilities for creators and fans alike to experience. And yet it still feels like ';reading comics', an experience that Karl and I are both committed to retaining in our work, even as we explore the new possibilities the digital format allows", says Randall.
"City of the Dead" launches on www.Thrillbent.com with the first of two parts on Halloween Day, 2012. The concluding part will follow two weeks later.
