Being both a wrestling and comic book fan, it's always cool to me when the two cross paths. These days there are a lot of wrestlers that read comics, so when this particular press release came out it definitely piqued my curiosity.
For those not familiar with CM Punk, he's been the WWE Champion for 339 days in his current reign as of this posting. He was a regular wrestler with the company for a few years having risen from the indie ranks to the WWE. A little over a year ago, he made waves by being let loose on the mic and slightly breaking kayfabe speaking to backstage things and creating a whole new and true-to-life persona for himself. Since then he's been one of the most popular wrestlers whether playing face (good guy) or heel (bad guy), and has been branded one of the most controversial as well.
Given the events of Avengers vs. X-Men and the controversy it caused with certain characters and subplots and so forth, Punk, who uses the Thing's "It's Clobberin' Time!" catchphrase every time he approaches the ring, is really a fitting choice to provide the introduction to the hardcover.
