NYCC: Sequart's Image Comics Documentary Panel and More!
Sequart Research & Literacy Organization and Respect! Films are proud to announce their New York Comic Con panel, which will preview footage from their upcoming documentary on the history of Image Comics,The Image Revolution. (Currently filming, the documentary has an anticipated completion date of early 2013. You can pre-order it now at sequart.org/store.) The panel is Thursday night from 6:30 - 7:30pm in room 1A04. Sure, there'll be other interesting panels at the same time as ours, but let the comics news sites cover those, because this will be your only chance to see more than just trailers before the documentary is released next year.
At the end of the panel, Sequart and Respect! will be selling the recently-released DVD of Warren Ellis: Captured Ghosts (which includes over 70 minutes of bonus interviews) and the new 2-disc special edition DVD of Grant Morrison: Talking With Gods. (FYI: Captured Ghosts is available for purchase on iTunes and Google Play, and Talking with Gods is available to stream for free from YouTube and Hulu.)
Immediately following the panel, take a short, quarter-mile walk with Sequart / Respect! and friends to the Tenth Rail bar and grill for some drinks, food, and comics talk. Even if you're on your way to another party, please consider swinging by for a drink or bite!

About The Image Revolution: Twenty years ago, a group of artists left Marvel Comics to create their own company, which continues to influence mainstream comics and culture to this day. Image Comics began as more than just a publisher - it was a response to years of creator mistreatment, and it changed comics forever. The Image Revolution will tell the story of Image Comics, from its founders' work at Marvel, through Image's early days, the ups and downs of the '90s, and the publisher's new generation of properties like The Walking Dead. And what better time than during Image's 20th anniversary to make this documentary? The film crew has already interviewed a wide variety of people about the company's history, including six of the seven original founders, Robert Kirkman, Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus from The Walking Dead TV series, as well as many current Image creators, including Nick Spencer and Joe Keatinge. And there are many interviews still to come!
