Paul Jenkins and Humberto Ramos Release New Book
Eisner Award winning author Paul Jenkins (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hellblazer, Inhumans, The Spectacular Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Batman: The Dark Night among many others), illustrator Humberto Ramos (The Flash, Uncanny X-Men, Crimson, Superman, The Spectacular Spider-Man, and Avengers to name only a few), and colorist/layout design artist Leonardo Olea (KMKZ, Revelations, Soulfire, and Ashes) have released a new graphic novel FairyQuest: Outlaws in North America.
The novel was first released by Glenat label Drugstore in French-speaking countries and launched at Angouleme this year. It made its English language debut at Dragon*Con 2012, of which FairyQuest was one of the official sponsors.
FairyQuest takes place in the "foundation world" of FableWood, an enchanted forest inhabited by the world's most beloved fairy tale characters. The FairyQuest series tells the story of two characters who feel trapped in their stories and want to escape. Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf, after centuries of working together, have become best friends.
Their friendship isn't the only surprise: many other characters you think you may know have been given a modern twist to appeal to a new generation. Ramos loved "getting to breathe new life into familiar characters," bringing FableWood to life in stunning detail.
More series are also planned for the FableWood characters. "We're building this whole world here that will let us take a different look at the stories we think we know," said Jenkins. The "foundation world" of FableWood was designed to give birth to publications, video games and films.
FairyQuest: Outlaws is published by ClockStop Entertainment LLC, a Paul Jenkins company. Books and merchandise are available online at fairyquestbook.com. Also follow the book's progress on Facebook at facebook.com/FairyQuestOutlaws and Twitter at twitter.com/ClockStop_LLC.
