PalmCon: The Palm Beach Comic Book and Collectibles Show is Palm Beach County's only comic convention of its kind. This is the second year for PalmCon and as with last year's show, the convention will take place at the American Polish Club in Lake Worth, FL. Last year we were limited to the 4800 square foot main hall but this year we have expanded to take over all of the rooms at the club.
We are pleased to have comic book legend Jose Delbo as our guest of honor; he has worked in the industry for years on such titles as Wonder Woman, The Transformers, The Twilight Zone and The ThunderCats - he will be signing as well as doing sketches and commissions all day. We continue to receive an amazing amount of support from the local comic scene for this one day event. All of the area's major comic shops will be represented at PalmCon along with over 10 other vendors and well over 25 artists, publishers, film makers and fan organizations. There will be two raffles, a costume contest, and the Indie-Film Lounge showing short films created by local filmmakers.
This event grew out of Martin T. Pierro's love for the small hotel and mall comic shows that were a staple of his youth. In recent years there has been a resurgence of interest in comic book characters (as evident by this summers blockbuster films The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises), so it seemed a perfect time to bring these types of shows back to the Palm Beach area.
Guests include - Jose Delbo (Transformers & Wonder Woman artist), Michael Duron (Disney & Lucasfilm artist), Greg Kirkpatrick (Image Comics artist), Manny Aguilera (cartoonist), Jose Varese (Aspen Comics artist), Vanessa "Banky" Farano (Lucasfilm & Topps artist) and many more.
Vendors include - Past Preset Future Comics, Tate's Comics, CJ's Comics, Docking Bay 94, and The Fine Print Shoppe just to name a few.
The clubs and fan groups that will be in attendance are - the South Florida Browncoats Firefly fan-group, The Miami and West Palm Ghostbusters fan-groups and the 501st Star Wars costuming enthusiasts.
The Indie-Film Lounge will include films by Creature Entertainment, Ginnungagap Filmwerks and Chris Turner.
