Yesterday morning, The Nerdist Channel released an exclusive trailer for Michael Avon Oeming's new series from Dark Horse, THE VICTORIES, which you can watch below.

Description of THE VICTORIES: Powers co-creator Michael Avon Oeming returns to comics with Victories. What happens when a hero derives his power from his greatest weakness? Mike Oeming sets out to answer that question with the adventures of Faustus and the Jackal. Available in comic shops on August 15th from Dark Horse, get ready to see the dark side of superheroes.

THE VICTORIES is a 5-issue series created, written and illustrated by Oeming, so fans of Powers and Mice Templar will certainly dig the art style. While it's not clear yet, it looks like from the trailer Faustus may obtain his powers from imbibing, which is hinted to in the description. I think everyone's considered that concept (I know I have - had a character named Poison in one of my sketchpad comics as a teenager) at one point, so it'll be interesting to see that played out.

Dark Horse doesn't often dabble in the superhero realm, but when they do it's usually with good results. And with a superstar creator like Oeming at the helm of the project, it should be a solid one at the very least.
