IDW's Start Trek Series is Laying Hints for the Second Movie
IDW Publishing's Star Trek series will lay the ground for the forthcoming movie sequel.
Writer Mike Johnson has said that the title is laying hints that will become clear once Star Trek 2 is released.
The ongoing title reimagines episodes from the original Star Trek series through the lens of JJ Abrams's movie continuity, with screenwriter Roberto Orci assisting on the tales.
"The hints are not the kind that will spoil anything in the movie," Johnson told Newsarama.
"They are more retroactive, in the sense that after you see the movie you can go back and see where things were set up. Some are very direct; others are more thematic. My favorite so far is in issue #12, the conclusion of the Tribble story."
This month's Star Trek #11 will launch a story featuring the fan-favorite alien pompoms called Tribbles.
"We'll get to see the Tribble homeworld, meet the Tribbles' natural predators, and witness the Tribble invasion of Earth," said Johnson It's equal parts fuzzy and epic."
Johnson is also currently working as co-writer on DC Comics' Supergirl.
