Announcing More Cosplay Events and Kid Con!

The 3rd annual Cincinnati Comic Expo is adding more fantastic activities for our dedicated cosplayers. After all, you spend hours, days, and weeks conducting research and constructing a rocking costume to showcase at our event. So we have created 2 events for our cosplayers to participate in before and during the 2012 show.

PHOTO CONTEST
We cannot tell you when it will begin and we cannot tell you when it will end. We can only ask, "Have you ever had a session with a professional photographer while in your best cosplay character?" If the answer is "yes," then you are halfway there. If the answer is "no," then you better think of looking to get some 8 x 10s of yourself.

SCAVENGER HUNT
This will begin on Friday, 9/14, and end on Saturday, 9/22. You may enter as an individual or enter a group.

On Friday, 9/14, we will release a list items, people or actions that you or your group must have your photo taken with while dressed in your costume. The photos must be printed out, placed in an envelope with your contact information (name & email) of everyone participating and turned in by 4pm at a yet to be determined location at the Cincinnati Comic Expo on Saturday, 9/22. We will not be accepting memory cards of photos or emails of photos; the photos must be printed out!

One to five points will be awarded to your team based on the difficulty of the photo and your photogenic awesomeness. The maximum amount of points you can earn per photo is 5 points. Zero points will be awarded for no photo. Remember, you or every member of your group must be visible in every photo and in costume or the photo does not count. Each photo must be kid friendly (no nudity, no inappropriate poses or offensive gestures such as a displayed middle finger).

Whether you are playing alone or as part of a group, there is only 1 winner. The winner or winning team with the highest point total of the photos will win $100 cash prize. If there should happen to be a tie in the point total awarded then the time the photos were turned in will be the tie breaker.

Have fun, but do not break any laws or disrupt any citizens.

The 3RD annual Cincinnati Comic Expo looks to connect and entertain our youngest fans, not just those over the age of 16 or those with money with spend. Listed below are the events we have in store for your little Jedi in training.

KID CON AREA
In our designated Kid Con area our youngest fans will have a chance to meet artists and participate in various activities. Such as:

-Fabulous Faces by Jen
-Create Your Own Button by Mutant Cactus
-Drawing & Coloring Station featuring Official Comic Book Line-Art
-Balloon Artist
-Games
-Artists Meet and Greet

AT THE STAGE
U Cre-8 Comics Line - This is an innovative approach to combining comics and the classroom. With a mix of both literary and visual arts instruction, the U Cre-8 line builds an appreciation for creative expression as well as an interest in reading. The Character Crafter Workbook has students use an application process to make their own comic creations from the ground up, much in the same characters are created in the comic book industry.

Youth Costume Parade - A costume parade just for those 13 and younger. This will start at 1pm on the stage. Only the first 30 costumed kids will be accepted. This event is in addition to the Youth Costume Contest held on Saturday, 9/22. The parade has no prizes and is an opportunity for kids to show off their costumes.

How to Draw Star Wars - Two Star Wars comic artists use the Force (or perhaps just their talent) to show young fans how to draw their favorite characters.

JEDI ARENA
Star Wars Padawan Training - Star Wars lightsaber choreographer and stuntman Nick Gillard will train our youngest fans in the ways of the force. There is only one class and that begins at 10:30am. The 30 minute session includes a signed autograph photo and costs $50. Tickets are very limited and can be purchased on-line here:http://2012cincinnaticomicexpo.eventbrite.com/?ref=eweb. Please note: Children are to bring a Nerf sword to participate.

Even though Sunday has certain events set aside for children this does not mean that Saturday is only adults and Sunday is for kids. The rest of the show floor space is held to the same Cincinnati Comic Expo standards. Both days will feature plenty of adult and professional cosplayers for photo ops with anyone in attendance. These include famous comic and movie heroes, courtesy of Gotham's Finest, Jedi Assembly, Ohio 501st Garrison, Mandalorian Mercs and the Rebel Legion.

The Cincinnati Comic Expo has been entertaining thousands of fans since 2010 with an annual show celebrating all periods and genres of pop culture with an emphasis on comics.
