Brent Spiner Joins Warehouse 13
Over the last couple of years we've seen some pretty impressive guest appearances from former Star Trek actors on the Warehouse 13 and it is looking to be a trend that is to continue. Back in season two we saw a guest appearance by Rene Auberjonois who returned in the shows third season and last season saw a recurring role for Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway) and a guest spot for Jeri Ryan (7 of 9).
Now this year will see an even bigger star from the Star Trek shows join the cast for a six episode stint and that man will be ole yellow eyes himself Brent Spiner, who played Commander Data in series as well as other roles in the show, which included Noonion Soong and Data's android brother Lore.
In Warehouse 13 Spiner will play Brother Adrian, who is the leader of a top-secret sect known as the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Black Diamond.
Brother Adrian is set to appear in the premier episode of the series, which picks up the plot from where the series three finale closed out. If you remember the Warehouse was totally destroyed and several key characters looked to have been killed off, but as series producer Jack Kenny always reminds fans. Nothing is as it seems on Warehouse 13. Especially when it concerns life and death.
Speaking recently to TVGuide Kenny gave some insights on what we can look forward to next month when the series starts back.
"Artie Nielsen [Rubinek] and the gang are on a mission to pull their lives back together and Brother Adrian is a major obstacle to that," says executive producer Jack Kenny. "The Brotherhood is descended from the Knights Templar and connected to the Vatican. It is charged with the protection of many powerful artifacts, one of which Artie desperately needs to make everything right again."
There's just one problem, and it's a biggie. "The use of this object will unleash an incredible evil and Brother Adrian is not about to see that happen," says Kenny. "He heads a sect that is powerful and obsessively devoted and follows no rules. The Brotherhood will do anything to achieve its goals. They are gifted fighters who are willing to go to their deaths, if necessary."
Of course as most fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation will know. This is not the first time that Brent Spiner and Saul Rubinek have gone toe to toe. The two last sparred in a season three episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation in which Rubinek got to play the villainously greedy and self serving Kivas Fajo who wanted to add Commander Data to his massive collection of artifacts in ';The Most Toys.' This time though it looks like Spiner will be the big bad, which allows Rubinek some satisfying pay back.
