Five Quick Questions with Bart Sears

1) What's the book, Bart?
The book is DRAWING POWER, Drawing Powerful Comics, Volume #1: The SPLASH PAGE!

2) Where can we get it and how much is it?
Drawing Power Volume #1 is available at www.ominousstudios.com/emporium there are two editions available, the Gold Edition at 60 Bucks, and the Silver Edition, at 35 Bucks, both plus Shipping - which includes insurance.

3) What's Really Cool about this book?
Volume #1: The SPLASH PAGE details the creation of a single image, one splash page, from plot through finished inks. It's written kind of like we are sitting in the same room together, chatting while we draw. Teaching has always been a passion for me, I taught at the Joe Kubert School, and have taught many privately over the years, and I think that passion adds something vital to the pages. I explain the HOW-TO aspects of drawing, detail all of the skills and methods required, but I also go in-depth on the WHY of what you do when you draw; the thought processes behind the hundreds of decisions each artist must make when completing an illustration.

4) What did you enjoy about (working on) this?
I've always enjoyed explaining why things are drawn a certain way, as much to give others some solid bedrock to start building their own drawing power upon as to clarify and make sense of just what the heck I'm doing when I draw.

5) What's next for you?
I'm currently working on a 120-page graphic novel that's an adaptation of a screenplay, which will be printed in a widescreen 10" by 13" hardcover format. We have a series of sketchbooks we are working on for sale called, ODDS&ENDS, working on a new series of downloadable tutorials for BRUTES and BABES, and outlining DRAWING POWER Volume #2; ANATOMY! On top of that, we are developing several of our own properties for Ominous Studios... MAIDEN is one we've slowly been showcasing on Facebook... working on updating/redoing websites... busy days ahead.
