The Goon Movie Has Fizzled Out

For those still wanting to see Blur Studio tackle an animated feature film, I'm afraid you'll have to wait. David Fincher's plans for The Goon adaptation have now been dropped.

Back in 2008, Fincher optioned the movie rights to Eric Powell's original comic book and later teamed up with Blur to create the CG film. Then, about a month ago, Fincher said that the budget was still being worked out. Now, however, /Film reports that Paul Giamatti, who was signed on to the picture back in 2009, claims the film is no longer even happening.

"I asked and no one knows," said Giamatti in a recent interview at Sundance. "I guess they just ran out of money."

Fincher and Blur had already been struggling for several years to get the ball rolling on the project, and if Giamatti's words are any indication, things aren't looking very good for The Goon.
