Uruguayan Artist Eduardo Barreto Dies
The comics community lost one of the greats on December 15, when Uruguayan artist Eduardo Barreto passed away. In his long career, Eduardo illustrated everything from crime comics and westerns to noted runs on superhero comics to newspaper strips and beyond. Eduardo was a consummate pro and I was lucky enough to work with him directly on a couple projects at IDW. Eduardo illustrated Beau Smith's action-movie of a comic COBB, as well as a story I adapted for our DOOMED magazine. Both tales really emphasize the cinematic quality of Eduardo's art as well as his storytelling acumen. Please enjoy the below reads of bothCOBB #1 and thatDOOMED story (both of which are suggested for mature readers) as a tribute to Barreto's skill. R.I.P., Eduardo.
