Robert Downey Jr. Praises Iron Man 3 Script
"Iron Man 2" was entertaining, but it lacked the tightness of the first film. Mickey Rourke's Ivan Vanko was sort of shuffled around, the Avengers elements felt a little rushed, and if you forgot, Tony Stark actually invented a new element in the middle of things. Just like that, a new element! Well, whatever, it happens when you're rushing to capitalize on box office and critical success.
But according to Robert Downey Jr., the script for "Iron Man 3" is all killer and no filler.
"'Iron Man 3' is probably the best script I've read in five years, which is so funny," he said in an interview with Extra, via Comic Book Movie. "I mean, things have come so full circle that a genre superhero movie can actually be the most artistic bit of writing I read."
He then drew a line between a blockbuster like "Avengers" and the hopefully more character-driven "Iron Man 3."
"I think The Avengers is something a lot of the fans are really looking forward to, so I'm excited about that," he said. "The third Iron Man to me is an opportunity to go back to the kind of storytelling and character exploration that made the first one good."
Also in the interview, he talks about his impending fatherhood and the potential of recording more music (remember when he did that?), so check it out if you're a big RDJ fan.
"Iron Man 3" isn't coming out for a while, so we'll have to see.
