Five Quick Questions with Brian Denham

1) What's the book, Brian?

Escape From The Planet Of The Living Dead.

2) Where can we get it and how much is it?

It's available at a retailer near you or you can order directly from Antarctic-Press.com.

3) What's Really Cool about this book?

Zombies in space. What more do you need? It's the story of 3 survivors from a doomed spaceship trapped on a mining planet with 6 million zombies. Some zombies are intelligent and are trying to get the survivors to bring rescue ships so they can escape too.

Each issue is a stand-alone story. This issue is the 4th from the Planet Of The Living Dead issues. It follows up the events from the original Planet Of The Living Dead but it's not necessary to have read that issue.

4) What did you enjoy about (working on) this?

I was able to write and draw it in the old Marvel style. I plotted and drew the story based on information from artist/writer Joe Wight. After I was done he rewrote it based on my interpretation on his outline. It was a freeing personal experience as an artist and I am hoping to do more comics in this way.

I also took a break from drawing my comics work in Adobe Illustrator which I have done since 2000. I drew everything and inked on paper. It was a blast. Basically I sketched a rough of the page at actual size and inked on tracing paper over the sketches. I sketched it all in pen and did not have to erase. The art is very, very emotional, visceral and not as slick or polished as my traditional art.

5) What's next for you?

I am doing a lot of work with Antarctic Press. I love those guys. I am working on logos, and covers and art. I'm drawing some more steampunk cheesecake for Victorian Secret Winter Wardrobe-the 3rd of that series. I have a series coming in 2012 that will be a blast.

I also volunteered to draw an entire issue for the Womanthology Heroic Kickstarter Campaign. Hooked up with a very creative young artist/writer and I am drawing that issue next. The artist is Joamette Gil and is one to watch.

I drew an issue of a sci-fi/horror comic that should see publication early next year.

I am working with Kerry Gammill on short stories for Bela Lugosi's Tales From The Grave.

I am drawing Green Hornet covers every month for Dynamite.

Sheesh. That's a pile of stuff.
