5 Q-Squared
Five Quick Questions with Bill Maus

by Bill Nichols

Bill N: What's the book, Bill?
Bill M: The book is called Zombies vs Cheerleaders TPB #1 from Moonstone Comics. It collects the first 5 issues, of which I have the cover and a 6 page story...

Bill N: Where can we get it and how much is it?
Bill M: You can get the book from your local comic shop, or order it online from www.moonstonebooks.com It's 144 pages, in color for $16.95

Bill N: What's Really Cool about this book?
Bill M: A-Hem... I hear that this Bill Maus guy has the coolest stuff in this book...I think I heard that from his kid--might be a biased opinion, or she got paid off:) But, I think the book is cool because it has such a variety of styles in it from so many different artists-- it's really tongue-in-cheek material and has the kind of stuff that caters to people who enjoy B-movie Zombie flicks. The book never tries to be more than what it is--and that makes it fun.

Bill N: What did you enjoy about (working on) this?
Bill M: I had a lot of fun with the creative freedom I was given-- I enjoyed my little Zombie-xploitation story that I was able to draw, plus I was on board for a lot of support roles as well, such as lettering a lot of the stories and doing some layout-- I like to wear different hats when I can and that made this project really fun for me to have my hands in so many areas--

Bill N: What’s next for you?
BillM: Well, I just finished a contract with Spinmaster, designing toy packaging creature art for their Bakugan anime series and now I'm working on a few small press books for FYI Comics and Beta3 Comics (both of which are behind schedule, so my goals are clear:) I'm also going on to books for Argo Comics, The Wilde Renaissance Company and Jester Press after that. The rest of the time, I take on commission art and projects all year long. You can see what I'm up to lately at my webpage at www.billmausart.com :)

One day, I hope to direct... or draw Spiderman.
