Fox Developing Spectre TV Series

Fox studio has bought the rights to the supernatural DC Comics character, The Spectre and is developing a drama based on him. The character was invented by Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel and Bernard Baily in 1940.

The Spectre is a dead police officer resurrected and possessed by the spirit of God's vengeance and driven to punish wrongdoers.

Brandon Camp (John Doe) will write and executive produce the adaptation alongside producer Bill Gerber (Gran Torino). Camp was introduced to The Spectre by DC Entertainment's chief creative officer Geoff Johns.

The Spectre received his own animated short on the Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths Blu-ray and DVDs, which were released last year.

No word yet on the release date.
