Latest Somewhat Official Word

Joel Silver, who was producing the now-stalled Wonder Woman movie, told reporters that the project has been placed on the back burner in light of another impending superhero film. "They're going to make the Justice League movie, and we're kind of pausing on Wonder Woman now," Silver said in a news conference while promoting Fred Claus. "Let them go ahead and do that picture [first]." - Sci Fi Wire, 10/29/07 [link]New

"Fans who’ve been watching the rise and fall and rise and fall of the possible, potential, probable, not likely, maybe happening, probably not, but then again maybe Wonder Woman movie at Warner Bros. may have new reason to despair. According to LA Weekly’s Nikki Finke, Warners isn’t interested in making films with female leads. Her source? Warner Bros president of production Jeff Robinov who Finke quotes (through three sources) as saying: "We are no longer doing movies with women in the lead." Finke said that Robinov's sentiment/statement was confirmed by three producers." -- 10/06/07, Blog@Newsarama [link]

"Movie producer Joel Silveradmits he's struggling with bringing Wonder Woman onto the big screen. The female superhero was last seen on our screens in a TV adaptation in the seventies. But the Matrix producer is now taking on the challenge of putting the comic book on to the big screen but fears he may fail. He says, " There's a new Batman being made now and I hope they make a new Superman, and I just want to make Wonder Woman work - I want to make it right." -- 04/23/07, ContactMusic [link]
