Toy Fair snippet... "Mezco immortalized Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and Eva Mendes as their characters from Frank Miller's green-screen-heavy superhero romp 'The Spirit' with a series of statues." - MTv, 2/20/08 [link]
Samuel L. Jackson shares... "Gabriel and I fight all the time," Jackson told reporters. "I fight with the Spirit. We had choreographed fights. We did them, and there's no imagination. The big green is just for what the setting is, what the city looks like, for the mudflats where we're at, and not for things that are coming at you." - Sci-Fi, 2/15/08 [link]
Lionsgate is so enamored of what director/writer Frank Miller has been doing with his adaptation of Will Eisner's The Spirit that the studio has signed Miller for two sequels. - ICv2, 2/12/08 [link]
"I was just 13 years old when I came across Will Eisner's 'The Spirit,' published by Jim Warren, and was blown away," the graphic novelist-turned-filmmaker remembered. "I thought it was somebody new to comics, because it was so far ahead of anything else coming out. I felt it, religiously. There was one night when I picked up the latest issue of 'The Spirit,' and I was so excited, I had to stop by a lamppost in Vermont where I lived and read it on the spot. That was the Sand Saref story, which is now the basis of this movie." - Frank Miller speaking with MTv, 11/15/07 [link]

Said Miller, "Will Eisner's THE SPIRIT is a product of passion and dedication for me. Will was a dear friend, a mentor, and translating his vision to the screen will be a labor of love. I look forward to working with the people at Lionsgate, and to add to their lauded reputation for genre films." - Lionsgate press release, 5/16/07 [link]
"Miller would like to start this film before starting on Sin City 2" "Miller decided to ‘script’ the film by first photocopying original Eisner panels on the wall until a single cohesive story line was finally together." "The film is being independently financed (meaning the money for the film is not coming from a film studio) which seems to keep everyone onboard the film happy. (Because of this) we will never be a situation we have to ignore 60 years of history, our respected creator, the material, and The Sprits fans.” - Newsarama, 3/5/07 [link]
